How SCARF links to the National Curriculum in England and Curriculum for Excellence in Scotland

National Curriculum

SCARF lesson plans are mapped to both the National Curriculum, covering a wide range of subject-specific Programme of Study statements, and to the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence Experiences and Outcomes.

As well as being designed to help you fit vital life skills lessons into a crowded curriculum, this cross-curricular approach also helps children to make connections between their own experiences and understanding of the world across the whole curriculum, with the benefits of:

  • Making learning more real, relevant and meaningful
  • Helping to create richer learning opportunities
  • Enabling learners to make connections between subjects
  • Providing opportunities for the wider development of skills and values

You can find where SCARF contributes to different subject areas on our National Curriculum or Curriculum for Excellence mapping pages.
