Life Education Hillingdon reach: 15,350 pupils in 47 schools (2017/18)
2019 marks our 21st year of helping children.
We are an independent and self-supporting charity working in partnership with schools, parents and the wider community to help children between the ages of 3 and 13 develop the ability to make positive, informed choices about their health, and reduce the risk of drug misuse.
We teach them about diet, exercise and how drugs can affect the way the body works. In addition, we help them to develop the skills to manage their feelings and the risks they may encounter so that they can take responsibility for their own lives.
Why do we do it?
The wellbeing and health of our young people is the future of our community. Healthier, happier children do better in life. Our young children are facing ever-increasing pressures and dangers that could damage their health.
Where do we do it?
Life Education Hillingdon serves 56 schools across the London Borough of Hillingdon and surrounding areas.
Our mobile classrooms reach over 20,000 children between the ages of 3 and 11 every year.
How do we do it?
We have three mobile classrooms that visit each school in turn. We deliver fun and informative programmes that equip children with the knowledge, skills and self-confidence to form positive healthy attitudes. By educating them about the effects and risks of eating badly, smoking, drinking alcohol and taking drugs, they feel empowered to make their own choices in life.
Children are shown how to overcome peer pressure and bullying and how to make their own choices about what they do.
We visit schools every year and build on the children’s existing knowledge of previous years so that they can move on to secondary school, confident that they can make informed healthy lifestyle choices and resist pressures to damage their health.
We carry out a thorough evaluation of our work to ensure that we are really making a difference.
