Life Education Wiltshire reach: 11,699 children in 76 schools! (2016/17)
Life Education nationwide is a delivery partner with Coram, the oldest children’s charity, established in 1739 as the Foundling Hospital in London. Life Education Wiltshire started working in Wiltshire schools in 1997. The service is a charitable trust and is managed by volunteers, many of whom are Rotarians.
The Life Education Centre is a specially equipped classroom with two trained educators and it visits schools across Wiltshire on an annual basis. The programmes encourage children to be aware of the importance of looking after their bodies and developing the knowledge and skills to make the right healthy choices. Age appropriate information is discussed about the effect on the body of different drugs including medicines, alcohol, smoking and illegal drugs. Making informed choices and developing a range of strategies to deal with peer influence and pressure is fully explored.
We also offer our ‘Bcyberwise’ sessions that focus on internet safety and ‘Time for Change’ Puberty sessions for Years 5 and 6. Every school is offered a parents session as an addition to the visit. We currently charge schools £4 per child and with SCARF online teacher resources at no extra cost, this represents great value for schools across Wiltshire.
